In 1824 the area was renamed Clinton Township after the New York governor who was responsible for building the Erie Canal, which many believed allowed citizens to settle in Michigan.

With M-59 on the northern end, where you'll find the Mall at Partridge Creek along with countless other businesses and restaurants, you’ll always have a restaurant to eat at and a store to shop in. Heading south toward 16 Mile Road offers more open spaces and ease of commuting. The scenery is lush with trees, creeks, and brooks, making those commutes to work a little easier in this housing market.
Clinton Township residents are also near Shelby Township, complete with more shopping options, as well as home to the Stony Creek Metropark. Heading just north of Clinton Township provides a more rural feel with small downtown communities like those in Romeo and a few cider mills, which are perfect for cider and donuts in the fall.
