Downtown Northville has some cool boutique shops, family-owned and independent restaurants as well as farmers markets and art fairs when in season.  If you like spending time outside, you’ll be near Maybury State Park where you can spend the day hiking, fishing, horseback riding or just meeting up with friends and family for a picnic at one of the picnic shelters.  In the wintertime you can go cross-country skiing.

To the east along Haggerty Road are big box stores like Meijer and Target as well as a whole host of restaurants.  On the Livonia side of the street is a movie theater and the Laurel Park Place Mall.  In the fall you can enjoy cider at Parmenter’s which is the oldest continuously operating business in Northville and proudly serves up their famous cider and donuts 7 days a week during season.

If you’re looking for a high-end and luxurious condo then check out Northville’s Blue Heron Pointe which boasts floor plans ranging in 2,100-2,900 square feet.  If you’re looking for something a little smaller then you’ll want to head to Fairbrook Condos.  These are more apartment-style condos that range from 900-1,100 square feet and feature gas and water in the monthly condo fees.

Here are some answers to some commonly asked questions regarding condo fees:

• How come condo fees can be so high?
There are many factors that can come into play here.  Such factors include: location, security, concierge desk, elevators, swimming pool and more.  Utilities may also be included in some of the condo fees.

• What are the typical items covered in condo fees?
These may include: Maintenance of common areas, reserve fund contributions, amenities, utilities, snow and trash removal, insurance policies and management fees.

• How are fees determined?  And who determines them?
Fees are usually based on the annual operating costs for the entire building/complex as well as contributions to a reserve fund.  Each owner has a vote in the decision on whether condo fees should be increased should the board of directors call for an increase due to increasing overhead.
