Downtown Northville is home to many quaint and unique shops, cafes, and restaurants, one of which happens to be the Tuscan cafe. One of its many highlights is that it is open well past 10:00 PM on a Friday night, it is open to midnight in fact. As some may already know, Northville is a quiet town, not boasting a rowdy nightlife, and its residents probably like it that way.
A friend and I found ourselves walking around downtown window shopping after hours and happened upon this little gem of a coffee shop. It was warm, cozy, and at the same time spacious enough for comfort and private conversation. We each enjoyed a slice of the Zingerman's cake. My friend opted for a latte with a slice of chocolate cake, while I chose a mango smoothie with a generous slice of lemon poppyseed cake.
The menu boasts a selection of grilled sandwiches, salads, breakfast items, specialty coffee and tea drinks, and a large assortment of desserts, all reasonably priced and comparable to the chain cafes, but with more personality.
We sat talking for well over 4 hours, time got away from us, and it was nice. Nice to not be prodded by the staff, but also because starting at around 10:00 we were able to enjoy the live entertainment. A guitarist was performing on that night, and at the Tuscan Cafe they book live entertainment regularly.
