The Detroit Institute of Arts is one of the city’s many cultural gems. Currently featured is Monet to Dalí: Modern Masters from the Cleveland Museum of Art. This exhibit takes visitors through the modern marvels of Picasso, Monet, Cézanne, Van Gogh, Dali and Matisse in an extraordinary and unique perspective of life through the lenses of some of the world’ most brilliant artists. If you’ve never been, the museum is split into categories for Africa, Oceania, and the Indigenous Americas, American Art, The Arts of Asia and the Islamic World, European Art, Prints, Drawings and Photographs, Contemporary Arts, and Performing Arts. The museum proudly offers an extensive collection covering a diverse and unique collection that will offer pieces to inspire and intrigue all in attendance.
Friday nights at the DIA provide a cultural and romantic dating opportunity, as the museum stays open until 10pm with drawing in the galleries, workshops, live music and guided tours, all included with general admission. If you’ve got young aspiring creatives, you may want to visit on Sundays, when the museum has special events and activities geared toward children. In the hectic, frantic pace of life today, the DIA is an excellent place to hit the pause button on life and take a moment to reflect.
You can learn more on the DIA’s website or click here for directions.
